Objective one
IFSA’s principal mission is to protect the interests and the rights of the locally engaged staff on a worldwide basis and to be a communication channel through which the locally engaged staff can engage into a permanent dialogue with the foreign affairs agencies in Washington.
Objective two
IFSA represents employees who take deep pride in working for United States government offices engaged in the front line of the effort to improve America's bilateral and multilateral relationships with other nations around the world.
Objective three
IFSA wishes to improve staff morale, better working conditions, and strengthen the relationship of the locally engaged staff within the foreign affairs community.

Forums to Improve Delivery of Government Services Ignore LE Staff
Labor-Management satisfaction, productivity gains and cost savings were the main objectives President Obama had in mind when, on December 9, 2009, he issued executive order #13522.
EO 13522 calls for Federal agencies to work together with employees and unions to improve the delivery of high quality services to the American people. The order also created the National Council on Federal Labor-Management Relations. (more)
Tightening our Belts – Pay Freeze for Federal Employees
On Monday morning, November 29, 2010, President Obama announced a pay freeze for federal employees and called for bipartisan compromise and broad sacrifice “to get our economy going and our deficit down.” After welcoming everybody back from the Thanksgiving break, the President said he was looking forward to a November 30 bipartisan meeting with Congressional leaders, making clear that “it’s time to get back to work.” Before talking about the news of the day, namely his call for cutting the deficit by freezing Federal employee pay, the President spoke a little bit about how concerns about the economy and the deficit relate. State Department does not wish to Recognize IFSA
Latest development in the saga of IFSA requesting recognition by the State Department. On September 20, 2010 Deputy Assistant Secretary Robert Manzanares sent the following letter to the “leadership of the International Foreign Service Association (IFSA)”. This is State’s response to IFSA’s third request to be recognized as a representative of the Locally Engaged Staff on a worldwide basis. HR/OE posted the letter on several internal web sites.
