Transparency and Open Government
One of the first acts of Barack Obama as President of the United States was to issue a memorandum for the Heads of Executive Departments and Agencies on Transparency and Open Government. By February 2010 all Agencies had set up an Open Government website, including State Department. The President committed himself to creating an unprecedented level of openness in Government. “Openness,” according to the memorandum, “will strengthen our democracy and promote efficiency and effectiveness in Government.” See the full text of the memorandum
Agencies have created their own webpages to serve as gateways for implementation of Open Government Directive. The State Department has created the following page: http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2010/02/08/open-door-open-government
IFSA would like to start a discussion on this important theme of openness and transparency in Government and how it impacts on our jobs, our work situation, and our FSN status. Tell us about your experience. Can you feel it yet?
